Child film stars British vs American

Have you ever noticed that most British child movie stars grow up to be lovely well-adjusted adults? Daniel Radcliffe is one example. I've seen his appearances this week on several shows. He appears to be a very nice, happy responsible young man. In contrast look at Lindsay Lohan. She's a total mess. I wonder what is so different in their upbringings? One obvious difference is parenting! Other possible contributors are culture and media. I suppose I'll never know for sure but I do find it an interesting phenomenon!
